Bikaner was founded by Rao Bika, one of the 14 sons of Rao Jodha - the rajput group leader who establish the city of Jodhpur. Rao Bika while on a journey came upon a land known as Jungladesh and decided to commence his kingdom there. These Havelis are ornamented with complicated designs and has expansive courtyard.

Bikaner attracts a lot of traveler specially Junagadh fort which has the unparallel dissimilarity of never being seized or conquered. Prachina museum located inside the fort grounds has a rich collection of costumes, textiles and accessories belonging to the royal family. Lalgarh Palace built by Raja Ganga Singh, constructed in red sandstone an architectural wonder and is a combination of Rajput, Mughal and European architecture. The city's camel breeding farm is only one of its kinds in Asia. The revered Karni Mata temple at Deshnok is famous for its permanent residents of hundreds rats - These rats are revered by the locals and moves freely within the temple premises. Legend has it that these rats are the reincarnations of the temple storytellers. Temple rules states that if someone steps on any of these creatures he has to replace it with a rat made in silver of the same weight!
